Internships at nEW (Applications are now closed)

An internship as part of nEW Festival with Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre (MSDT) offers meaningful learning opportunities and on-the-job experiences to graduate and undergraduate students interested in beginning careers in the performing arts or arts management. Interns in artistic/ administrative capacity serve throughout the festival to create continuity in the community. Students will learn to move fluently between administrative and artistic responsibilities. Interns will leave with the necessary skills to negotiate self promotion in their future careers.

The Independence Foundation College Internship at nEW

A limited number of paid internships are available through The Independence Foundation College Internship at nEW. Unpaid internships may be taken for college credit.

Undergraduate and Graduate students interest in an internship with Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre are required to submit an application including:

Cover letter discussing career goals
Level of computer proficiency
Areas of interest within the nEW Festival
Resume
Official University or College transcript (all levels, if available)
Two current letters of recommendation from individuals that are best able to speak for your background and skills in the areas of performing arts and/ or arts administration, and your ability to learn. Letters must arrive in sealed envelops with the signature of the letter writer appearing across the envelope flap.
Writing sample of no more than three pages.
